SimUCare Inc. is a company spun out of the University of Delaware. Its interdisciplinary team of healthcare simulation experts, theatre professionals and creative engineers are developing several a unique patient-centered simulation training devices for health care professionals. Its first product, SimUTrach, has been on the market since June 2016. All of their products integrate the use standardized patients (SPs) (healthy live actors trained to recreate a specific patient presentation) with patent pending wearable sensor technology. It will change the way healthcare providers are taught to care for a patients in simulation education. Because the inventors believe that human interaction is irreplaceable for healthcare provider education, their products are designed to provide an outstanding educational experience for the learner in a safe, non-life-threatening setting with a live “patient” to provide feedback. These one-of-a-kind, high fidelity wearable technology overlays allows for the SP to receive cues for in-situ feedback and non-verbal communication based on the accuracy of the learner’s bedside care during the simulation as well as patient centered feedback at the conclusion. SimUCare a company in New Castle, Delaware develops simulation products that extend the use of standardized patients, live actors educated to react and respond in clinically appropriate ways, for health care education with wearable technology.
